Sneak peak of Poseidon Collection

Winter has certainly provided me with the time to work away in the studio while the cold air swirls outside...or inside, as the heater isn't working in Art Avenue! ha but I'm not complaining, I've got two little heaters in my studio space.

Okay so enough of weather, I'm very excited to provide you with a sneak peak of the Poseidon Collection.  This collection is sea inspired, in a kingly and godlike manner, thus named after the Greek God Poseidon however it is a collection that I made with the intention that it is affordable and wallet friendly.

I started working with brass because it is so rich and golden but not as costly as real gold.  And it works so well with the matte black of the electroformed coral.  And knowing me, I can rarely ever let a piece of jewelry go without adding rough gems to it! Purple and black are one of the best color combinations, in my opinion.

The Poseidon Collection is set to release in about a week, and will be exclusively sold in select locations  (TBD) and through my website.

Aquamarine chips, sterling silver and electroformed black coral.

Along with the new collection I'm releasing next weekend, I'll be working on a fancy fashion lookbook and video! Finally, those two projects have been at the top of my list for a long time.  So stay tuned my dear readers and thank you for visiting.

sophisticated alien

My bench buddy, Jeffery Chen and his pink finger nailed alien sculpture. We had a good chuckle at the irony of using nail polish as a resist...so why not paint the nails?!

sneak preview

I'm SO, SO excited about several electroformed pieces I'm working on...it's for my contemporary techniques class with Ken Bova.

So here's a morsel of the meal that's to come in the next month (why do I refer to my jewelry as food...maybe because I love them both so much!).

Colored water drops

Purple water drops is the way I'm describing my electroformed pieces. I used Montana gold purple spray paint to add color and a lil' fun to them.

Now on sale for only $30 in my Eilisain Etsy Shop!

Displayed on my signature embossed paper.

Finally getting some color in my work!

What stays in the electroformer?

A strange creature with a thick spiny body!

I left a piece in the bath for 4 days and this is what came out, uh oh...but it's good, a happy accident.

where does the time go?

one of my favorite Nina Simone songs but so appropriate for now....I never have any time to hang out with my friends. I try to make time, make plans but it is never there. This weekend I worked at our shop's open house, 'jewelry party', needless to say, not many people showed up, other than supportive friends. So, here I am, midnight on a Saturday....blogging oh and watching the Fall...AMAZING cinematography. Lee Pace is easy on the eyes...I'll be dreaming of him this evening.

For now, I will post one of my new favorite artists.
Stepanie Tomczak. She's abstract but blends a cast-off/found object jewelry medium.
And Appart, new and very cool contemporary artists website, Julia Turner is my current favorite.
She uses wood and paints it, adding gold, silver and enamel. This reminds me of a spider web. Whenever I find new jewelers online...it challenges me to look at jewelry in a different angle, to use new materials and functions. Jewelry doesn't HAVE to be made of only silver or gold. But really, anything. I recall the days of when I made fimo barrettes and friendly plastic earrings. I was always crafty but it wasn't until several years ago that it dawned on me that jewelry has ALWAYS been a part of my life.
Julia Turner

Eily O'Connell is also super talented. She casts her pieces from found objects such as twigs and webs.
