The BRIGID COLLECTION is almost here

The tension and excitement is really building for the Brigid Collection.  And the photoshoot/videoshoot made it even more special.

For this shoot/collection I wanted to work with new and old people, such as Aileen Devlin.  Aileen and I have worked together for two shoots (Vespa and Valkyrie) and our chemistry is great.  I never really need to direct or tell Aileen how to capture my jewelry, she just gets it.  As for the rest of the team, I couldn't have found more talented individuals.

Amanda Adkins, owner of The Lucky Owl Shop, creates really beautiful flower bouquets, arrangements and flower crowns. So I knew Amanda would need to be a part of the shoot, then came on Meagan Wilson a freelance makeup artist. Lastly, I was able to grab two gorgeous dresses from my girl Paula Chrismon's shop, The Closet Consignment Boutique as well as blouses from Catalog Connection both located in Uptown Greenville.

The day was beautiful and breezy and the setting was perfect - a cemetery! When I told some friends they were a bit confused but to me, it works so well, marriage is meant to last until ultimately you pass into the next life so why not shoot the collection where others have gone to depart but are buried next to their spouses and loved ones?

Stay tuned - the Brigid Collection drops the first day of spring - March 20th!

Looking back and going forward

It's August and for anyone in the jewelry business that means the holidays are near and it's time to prepare for shows, lookbooks, new collections and plans.

I've been working hard lately on making lists, finishing my bookkeeping and planning for the next year and five years to come.  This isn't something I come by easy, I've found that I work better when I make lists.  I keep a sticky note on my datebook with all of my 'To Do's for the day.  Sometimes I'll even write things I already did so that I feel accomplished, how silly is that?!

So what does this have to do with the Aurelian Nights behind the scenes images below? Well I thought, it's was a year ago that I worked with Paula Chrismon, of The Closet Consignment Boutique, on our first and I'm sure not last, collaboration.   And the project was not without it's hiccups but overall it was a big project and I'm proud of the work I did with Paula, the models, photographers, artists, local business' and friends.

I'm reflecting on that project and knowing that it happened because of the planning I put into it with Paula and the determination.  If I could work on such a big project and make it successful then I'm confident in the future.  I'm scared but excited and that's what I love SO much about being a business owner and an independent designer.

It was hot and dark in the theater but we sure did have fun! Paula and I cheezin'

As usual, thank you for reading!

Golden Success

So it's been about two weeks since the fashion show and Art Avenue is reaping the results! I'm quite pleased.

It was such a whirlwind evening; considering I had to fly out the next morning for Panama! It was such a great event, what I was most pleased with was having such a diverse crowd of attendees to see a mixture of clothing and jewelry from all stages of their career.
The Daily Reflector full page article about the show!

The East Carolinian piece.
Some photos from the pre-event and the night of the show.

The vinyl was an added bonus, looks so great on the Art Ave window!

The crowd could barely be contained.
And my new jewelry display cases, FREE!

Black and gold

It's been such a busy but in a good way, weekend.

I've gotten much accomplished and am feeling confident and proud of the work I've put into the first fashion show I've ever produced.

Here is a product of it, the video for the fashion show and jewelry in motion exhibition.  Hope you love it as much as I do!

Aurelian Nights is almost here...

Almost a week away...oh jeez, I'm excited, nervous and close to elated that it's almost here!
Below is one of the show posters we had designed.  I wish the jewelry was less clustered but I wanted to have several images on the poster to get a wide representation.

The image on the left, bracelet is Laurel Fulton (steel and brass), the middle necklace is Drew Curtright (LOVE it, she blackened copper and then added some sparkle) and then Ellen Hinrichs amazing neckpiece.

Event RSVP on Facebook
And an additional poster for The Closet.  I love the variety of girls, styles and poses.

Auerlian Nights Fashion Show/Jewelry in Motion

These past couple days have been SO crazy! I left Penland on Tuesday, got into Greenville late into the night and the very next day I was meeting with all the people who are working on the Aurelian Nights fashion show.

I miss Penland already however, I missed my cats much more.  I was cuddling with them the whole night.

Okay, so back to this fabulous fashion show I'm co-producing with Paula Chrismon of the Closet Consignment boutique.  The idea began several months ago after I wrapped up my own first photoshoot, I was talking it over with Paula how black and gold is such a rich and glamorous combination, that and that really we should collaborate on an event to celebrate to jewelry and clothing.

So here we are and Paula and I are in the midst of going a bit crazy, but in a good way.  We will be publishing a lookbook for the show and a video!

I'm also very thrilled about the roster of jewelers participating in the show, drum roll please....

Because of the night

Last weekend I worked with my good friend Paula (owner of The Closet Consignment boutique) to shoot some photos of my jewelry for my upcoming debut on Boticca.

Ashleigh Bowden was my model, isn't she beautiful? I love her dark features and she wears my jewelry SO well.  All of these photos are also attached to the jewelry on my Eilisain Etsy shop!

And psst, don't forget I'm still having my summer SALE, 20% off all my jewelry, use coupon code: SUMMA20.
Ashleigh wearing the resurrection ring, bear claw charm pendant and several other necklaces.
Looking enchanting with the crow claw pendant.

My fav earrings, the beaver teeth hoop earrings.

A masquerade!

and wearing the triple owl talon pendant with purple fluorite stone.

Small business' is boomin'

I was thinking last night, after yet another one of my wonderful friends posted on Facebook about my jewelry, how great it is to have a large circle of friends that are independent business owners and working artists. Small business' make up such a large part of our economy today; very different from even 5-10 years ago.

In this blog post I want to celebrate and tell you about some of the small business' that my friends are a part of and own!

Sam and Mikes Munchies
I met Sam and Mike (seriously one of the cutest couples I know) at a Greenville business event and learned about their delicious organic, raw food delivery business.  It's very rare here in Greenville (and the eastern NC area) to find healthy and tasty food but Sam and Mike are savvy at making vegetables taste yummy as well as easy to order.

Out of the Box Bakery:
If I lived closer, this would be my go to snack, operated out of the DC metro area;  Jennifer Brooks Lassiter bakes delicious goods that are grain free and dairy free.  Jennifer and I used to work together at the Human Rights Campaign and have had great times laughing and being silly on our lunch breaks.  It's so wonderful to see her doing something she loves!

Leslie Tharp Designs
Leslie is one badass sculptor/blacksmith/business woman! We met two years ago at Penland and I was struck by how she is fearless in working with iron, steel and all other sorts of hard metal.  She also has a range of skill in business, ranging from community sculpture projects to creating one of a kind wedding gifts such as candle holders and place settings.

Superstition Vintage:
Another awesome Penland friend, Adrian Lesoing has an excellent eye for thrift finds.  She pulls off A-line skirts and plaid like no one's business! Adrian is also a talented photographer.  Her style is eery and dreamy.  Check out her online boutique, you are bound to find a treasure you will love forever.

The Closet Consignment Boutique:
Paula has the best taste in clothing and an uncanny radar for where to score the best clothing and accessories in a Goodwill! I met Paula through our mutual friend Susan Chesson (a ridiculously talented hairstylist), we have already become fast friends and do lunch more than several times a week.  I'm ADDICTED to her boutique and it helps that I sell my jewelry there too!

This is just a short list of the friends I know that are running a small business.  I think I'll have to do a second post soon.  But for now, I urge you, shop local and support small business' - it really does come full circle when you support your community.

Thank you for reading!
